LAHORE: The Higher Education Commission Islamabad has ranked the University of Veterinary & Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore among top 10 universities in sport ranking of universities of the country for the year 2015-16.
The UVAS has been ranked on 7th position in men’s sports and 8th in women sports. The HEC ranked the universities on the basis of overall results of intervarsity sports championships for 2015-16 in 30 categories of sports for men and 24 categories for women. The UVAS got 682 points in men’s sports among 95 universities and 507 points in women’s sports among 47 universities of the country.
In the HEC’s previous sports ranking, the UVAS was among top ten universities on 10th position in both men and women’s sports. In the latest ranking, the university has improved its position by three steps and advanced to 7th number in men’s sports while it improved by two steps and advanced to 8th position in women’s sports.
The UVAS has already been ranked by the HEC among top 10 universities of Pakistan in overall ranking of universities. It is also now positioned among 301-350 top Asian Universities as per QS Asia University Ranking 2018.
Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Talat Naseer Pasha congratulated the faculty, staff and students on this achievement. HE said that the university with its motto “Provoking Potentials, Producing Professionals” has fast moved towards multi-level education and skills development institution by using its knowledge, resources and skills for human resource development. He hoped that the university will continue its journey of progress and development in future as well.
