ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister’s Special Assistant on Industries and Production Haroon Akhtar Khan convened two pivotal meetings in Islamabad to drive growth in the meat exports sector and strengthen the poultry industry as part of broader industrial growth initiatives in Pakistan.
In his discussion with K&N’s CEO Khalil Sattar, Haroon Akhtar tackled the core meat export challenges—from onerous taxes on poultry and red meat to the critical gap in proper branding and documentation. Sattar stressed that true value addition hinges on standardized labeling and export-grade packaging. Responding, Akhtar affirmed that the government is lining up incentives for meat processors, streamlining export regulations, and offering technical support to enhance Pakistan’s global market competitiveness.
Building on this, Akhtar’s second session focused on the poultry sector improvement, addressing supply chain bottlenecks, feed quality standards, and cold-chain logistics. He reiterated Prime Ministerial commitment to industrial incentives—including tax rebates, subsidized utilities, and export facilitation—to ensure that both large-scale processors and smallholder producers can scale up operations.
These strategic meetings underscore a people-first approach aimed at empowering farmers, processors, and exporters. By fostering value-driven branding, improving documentation compliance, and delivering targeted government support, Pakistan aims to capture a larger share of the lucrative global meat market while boosting domestic industrial growth and generating jobs across the supply chain.
