KARACHI: The rising inflation resulting in continuous hike in prices of daily-use commodities, especially petrol and electricity rates, has made it difficult for the poor and even the middle class to make both ends meet.
This was stated by Businessmen Forum central leader retired Capt Abdul Rasheed Abro, who regretted that the rate of inflation rose to 0.60 percent during the last week.
He said sugar, lentils, rice, LPG, eggs, chicken, dal mash, potatoes, fresh milk, yogurt, pulses, mung beans, flour, cooking oil and other kitchen commodities have become expensive, but no measures are taken by the caretaker government to stop the inflation.
Mr Abro remarked that traders and citizens nationwide have been compelled to stage protests due to the rising inflation and exorbitant electricity bills. The inflationary pressures have made it increasingly challenging for families to provide nourishment for their children, exacerbating the already dire situation of unemployment.
Abro further voiced apprehension about the worsening economic conditions prevailing in the country. He noted with concern that over the past six months, a staggering 0.4 million individuals, including educated youth and individuals with exceptional talents, have chosen to emigrate from the nation, seeking opportunities elsewhere.
