LAHORE: The University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS), Lahore, came alive with color, energy, and excitement as the Vets Care Club successfully organized the 5th Pets Gala & Panchi Mela at the City Campus Main Lawn, attracting a large number of students, faculty members, and pet enthusiasts.

The event was inaugurated by UVAS Registrar Sajjad Hyder, alongside Associate Professor (Retired) Dr. Syed Saleem Ahmad, Dr. Zia Ullah Mughal, President Pakistan Feline Club Mr. Ahmad Tasleem, and Mr. Zaki Naeem. A strong presence of students and faculty marked the occasion, reflecting growing interest in animal welfare and responsible pet ownership.

A celebration of pets, birds, and companionship

The Pets Gala & Panchi Mela featured a vibrant display of animals, including colorful parrots, exotic bird species, dogs, and cats, drawing attention from visitors of all ages. Families and children were seen enjoying close interactions with the animals, capturing photographs and learning more about responsible pet care.

The event created an engaging platform for awareness about pet handling, care practices, and the emotional value of human-animal companionship.

Encouraging student-led initiatives

Speaking on the occasion, UVAS Registrar Sajjad Hyder appreciated the efforts of the students for organizing the event in a well-coordinated and professional manner. He also thanked pet owners and participants for contributing to the success of the gala.

He emphasized that such student-led initiatives play an important role in promoting compassion, responsibility, and practical learning in veterinary education.

Pet beauty contest and awards

A highlight of the event was the pet beauty contest, where various pets were evaluated and appreciated for their appearance and care standards. Winners and participants were awarded shields in recognition of their efforts.

At the conclusion of the event, Dr. Syed Saleem Ahmad distributed shields among pet owners and sponsors, acknowledging their contribution to making the gala a success.
