ISLAMABAD: Commerce and industries and production ministry has ambitiously revised the textile exports target for the current financial year setting it at $25 billion against the last year’s $16 billion.
Caretaker Federal Minister Dr Gohar Ejaz announced this on Wednesday during a meeting with the Pakistan Textile Exporters Association delegation led by Khurram Mukhtiar, promising speedy revival
of all closed industries in the country within a month.
He assured textile exporters that each industry currently closed for various reasons would be reopening by September 30.
He expressed optimism with regard to achieving enhanced textile export target for the current fiscal year.
Dr Ejaz said he would personally interact with all stakeholders, including industrialists to resolve their problems to revitalise the industrial landscape.
The minister sought a comprehensive list of all dormant industries and detail of the problems being faced by them.
He said the issue of outstanding amounts which different departments, including the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and customs, owed to industries would be swiftly resolved.
The minister assured the exporters that challenges related to gas, electricity, energy, and fund disbursement would be resolved efficiently.
