LAHORE: Caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi thanked the Pakistan Army for their support in safeguarding the cotton crop against pests by deploying army helicopters and drones for pesticide spraying, resulting in high yield.
Addressing a presser along with Federal Minister for Industry and Commerce, Gohar Ijaz,
Mr Naqvi also acknowledged the outstanding rice production, pointing out the challenges in seed research in Pakistan.
Attributing these achievements to collective efforts of a dedicated team, the chief minister affirmed his commitment to improving wheat production as well.
Mohsin Naqvi also discussed the government’s robust efforts to combat the proliferation of counterfeit medicines to ensure public health and safety.
Gohar Ijaz attributed the extraordinary cotton crop yield to the diligent efforts of the chief minister, lauding his role in elevating cotton production from 3.3 million bales to an astounding eight million bales.
He commended the Punjab government for its successful initiatives in expanding cotton cultivation over the past year and announced that the All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (Aptma) is prepared to allocate funds for further cotton research to strengthen the industry.
Highlighting the significance of cotton in Pakistan’s exports and revenue, Mr Ijaz underscored the government’s commitment to bolstering the textile sector, which has witnessed remarkable progress over the last decade.
