ISLAMABAD: Chairman of the Pakistan Hitech Hybrid Seed Association (PHHSA), Shahzad Ali Malik, highlighted the need for fully leveraging Pakistan’s trade potential with Europe as the region offers a lot of opportunities of substantially contributing to the country’s economic growth and prosperity.
In a recent press release, PHHSA head underscored the prominent stature of Europe as one of the world’s largest and most influential trading blocs. Particularly, the European Union presents an extensive market with diverse consumer needs and preferences, offering ample prospects for the Pakistani market.
In recent years, he said, there has been an increasing emphasis on strengthening trade relations between Pakistan and various European countries, providing a golden opportunity to fortify economic ties and reap mutual benefits.
Mr Malik said Pakistan boasts a diverse range of products, including textiles, leather goods, surgical instruments, and agricultural produce, which hold significant global demand. By prioritising quality, innovation, and adherence to international standards, Pakistan can effectively tap into the European market, he asserted.
Highlighting the Generalized System of Preferences Plus (GSP+) status, which grants Pakistan preferential access to European markets, Malik said this arrangement gives the country a competitive advantage.
To fully exploit this trade potential, he emphasised the vital need for close collaboration between the government and the private sector. Essential investments in infrastructure, technology, and skill development are necessary to enhance the quality and competitiveness of Pakistani exports, he added.
Simultaneously, fostering awareness among local businesses about European market trends, regulations, and consumer behaviour would enable Pakistani products to be tailored effectively for the European market, he maintained.
Mr Malik also stressed the importance of strengthening ties with chambers of commerce, trade associations, and business councils in Europe to facilitate networking and collaboration opportunities for Pakistani entrepreneurs.
