ISLAMABAD: Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar has stressed the need for establishing enduring political relations between Pakistan and Africa to further explore the potential in trade and economic linkages.
The PM said this during a luncheon attended by Ambassadors from Algeria and Sudan, as well as High Commissioners from Bangladesh, Brunei, Malaysia, Mauritius, and South Africa, along with Charges d’ Affaires from Ethiopia, Indonesia, Kenya, Nigeria, Somalia, Tunisia, and Zimbabwe.
Kakar expressed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening ties with African countries on both bilateral and regional fronts.
Highlighting Pakistan’s active participation in the ongoing 4th Pakistan-Africa Trade Conference in Cairo, Egypt, from January 9-11, where a substantial business delegation led by the commerce minister represented Pakistan, PM Kakar discussed various avenues for collaboration.
He also conveyed Pakistan’s eagerness to expand bilateral trade with Southeast Asian countries, particularly focusing on strengthening engagement with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). He appreciated the historical ties with Southeast Asian nations, including Brunei, Indonesia, and Malaysia.
Addressing the ongoing situation in Gaza, PM Kakar stressed the need for a dialogue among nations and collective efforts to bring an end to violence, to establish lasting peace in Palestine.
The PM lauded the diplomatic envoys for their efforts to strengthen ties between their respective countries and Pakistan. The diplomats reciprocated the sentiment, thanking the caretaker prime minister for his time and reaffirming their commitment to work closely with Pakistan to enhance bilateral relations.
