LAHORE: Delegates of 60 countries discussed avenues of bilateral trade with Pakistan during their interaction with Dr Gohar Ejaz, Federal Minister for Commerce, Industries & Production, Federal Secretary for Commerce, Sualeh Ahmad Faruqui, and Zubair Motiwala, Chief Executive TDAP on the second day of the Engineering and Healthcare Show 2024 held in Lahore.
The discussions revolved around bilateral trade challenges and opportunities, with a particular focus on addressing key issues to enhance trade relations with Pakistan.
Delegates from Djibouti, Australia, Turkey, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Rwanda, Tanzania, Zimbabwe, Zambia, South Africa, Mozambique, Kenya, Ethiopia, and Nigeria actively participated in these discussions.
The importance of Pak-Africa trade relations and Africa as an emerging market were especially focused on during the show. Both sides affirmed their commitment to future cooperation in all possible aspects.
The show maintained its momentum on the second day with dynamic interactions between buyers and sellers on the exhibition floor. It witnessed meetings between both sides, laying the foundation for future partnerships.
Foreign delegates coordinated site visits with local businesses, gaining firsthand insights into Pakistan’s industrial capabilities. The delegates held 15 meetings with representatives of FPCCI, SCCI, and LCCI, while regulatory authorities of Pakistan — Drap and PSQCA – also conducted 20 meetings with their counterparts.
In a cultural exchange, an inaugural dinner was hosted for foreign delegates at PC Hotel, Lahore. The event was attended by Syed Azfar Ali Nasir, Punjab Minister for Housing, Urban Development & Public Health Department and TDAP chief.
At the end of the show, 8 MoUs were signed between regulatory authorities, chambers, associations, and delegates from participating countries, paving the way for increased collaboration and mutual benefits.
The show also featured a ‘Mineral and Investment Lounge’ comprising six stalls allocated to different regions, showcasing the offerings of the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC), Pakistan Minerals Development Corporation (PMDC), KP Board of Investment, Balochistan Board of Investment, Sindh Board of Investment, and Punjab Board of Investment.
The delegates took a special interest in minerals, particularly Pink salt and its products presented by the PMDC, as well as marble and granite products showcased by the KP Board of Investment.
