FAISALABAD: After recent reports of wheat rust (Kungi) surfacing in various regions of the province, agricultural authorities are mobilizing farmers to take proactive measures to safeguard their crops against the fungal disease.
A spokesperson for the agriculture extension department emphasized the importance of vigilance and swift action against this disease.
Reports indicate occurrences of rust (Kungi) in wheat crops across areas including Rawalpindi, Narowal, Layyah, Muzaffargarh, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, among others.
However, as the situation is not alarming yet, farmers are being equipped with knowledge and resources to effectively combat this threat. They are encouraged to conduct regular and thorough inspections of their fields and to promptly seek assistance from agricultural experts available at local offices.
Furthermore, farmers are urged to employ appropriate fungicides as a preventive measure against rust attacks. By taking these proactive steps, the risk of crop loss can be significantly mitigated, ensuring a good harvest and safeguarding livelihoods.
