LAHORE: The Faculty of Veterinary Science at the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore organized an awareness walk and vaccination camp to commemorate World Rabies Day, themed “Breaking Rabies Boundaries.” The event aimed to raise public awareness about rabies.
UVAS Vice-Chancellor, Meritorious Prof. Dr. Muhammad Younus (DLA.I, T.I), led the walk, which featured participation from Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Science, Prof. Dr. Aneela Zameer Durrani; Chairman of the Department of Parasitology, Prof. Dr. Kamran Ashraf; Registrar Sajjad Hyder; various department directors and chairpersons; students from the Vets Care Club (VCC), Vet Crescent Society (VCS), Special Animals & Veterinary Emergency Relief Society (SAVERS); and faculty members.
The walk commenced from the Vice-Chancellor’s Office and concluded at the Pet Centre, taking a route around the City Campus. Concurrently, the UVAS Pet Centre hosted a free rabies vaccination camp, officially opened by Prof. Dr. Muhammad Younus, who vaccinated a pet cat. The initiative aimed to educate the community, vaccinate pets, and work towards the elimination of rabies in the country. Similar activities were held at other UVAS campuses.
