QUETTA: Balochistan livestock and health departments will form a joint task force to combat Congo virus, holding training sessions in different regions to create awareness about preventive measures.
Balochistan’s Special Secretary of Health Mujib-ur Rehman Qambrani announced this while chairing a high-level meeting with senior officials from the Departments of Health and Livestock to strategise against a potential Congo virus outbreak in the province.
The meeting centred on launching an awareness campaign about the virus, reviewing preventive measures, and addressing other pressing health concerns.
Those who attended the meeting also included Dr. Amin Khan Mandukhail, Director General of Health, and Dr. Amir Iqbal Raisani, Provincial Head of the Malaria Control Programme/Vector-Borne Diseases.
The meeting focused on implementing Congo virus prevention strategies, raising public awareness, establishing isolation wards for patients, and ensuring that healthcare professionals adhere to safety protocols during treatment.
In his address, Mr Qambrani stressed the importance of collaboration between the health and livestock departments, announcing the formation of a joint task force to combat the virus. He also confirmed that training sessions would be held across various regions to educate the public on preventive measures.
He assured that the health department is fully mobilised to contain the outbreak, with all necessary steps being taken to curb the virus’s spread.
