LORALAI, Balochistan: The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) Balochistan observed World Food Day by holding a seminar attended by government officials, academics, civil society members, farmers, and students to discuss the region’s critical food security challenges.
Highlighting the malnutrition crisis in Balochistan, FAO Assistant Representative Maria Usman said, “We must work collectively to guarantee access to sufficient, safe, and nutritious food for all.”
Commissioner Saadat Hassan called for the inclusion of food security in constitutional priorities and stressed the need for comprehensive policies to combat hunger and enhance nutrition.
Agricultural expert Dr. Abdul Razaq spoke about projects focused on improving agriculture and water management practices, stressing that sustainable methods are vital for addressing food security issues in Balochistan.
Farmers at the event highlighted the need for modern agricultural technologies to improve productivity and efficiency, underscoring the essential role of innovation in achieving food security and boosting livelihoods.
The event concluded with a collective call for collaboration among all stakeholders to promote sustainable agricultural practices and address food insecurity in Balochistan.
