LAHORE: At least two production units were shut down and as many others were fined in Lahore by the Punjab Food Authority (PFA) teams for violating food safety regulations during an ongoing crackdown on food adulteration.
Under the direction of PFA Director General Muhammad Asim Javaid, Additional Director (Operations) Sharjeel Shahid led the operation, inspecting seven food units and popular food chains. The inspections focused on ensuring hygiene and compliance with food safety standards.
Javaid says that a samosa patti unit was shut down for using expired ingredients, unsanitary conditions, poor storage, and insect infestations, while a popular bakery was also closed for violations of the Punjab Pure Food Regulations.
The PFA imposed heavy fines on other food establishments for inadequate cleanliness and failure to provide necessary records during inspections.
Javaid says all food businesses across the province are under scrutiny as part of a directive from Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, warning operators to comply with regulations or face strict legal action.
