RAWALPINDI: Expressing concerns over the non-functional cattle market in the city, Commissioner Rawalpindi retired Capt Mohammad Mehmood recently said 22 kanals government land had been allotted for the market at Chhani Alam Sher.
He said action will be taken against concerned authorities if the market is not made fully functional within a month.
He said immediate steps should be taken to make the Chhani Alam Sher Cattle Market fully functional and the administration of Rawalpindi would extend all possible cooperation in this regard.
He stated this while reviewing the performance of the Cattle Market Management Committee at a meeting. The meeting was attended by Director Local Government Amna Rafique and officials from the Livestock and Dairy Development Department.
The commissioner said Chhani Alam Sher could be an ideal place for the cattle market due to its location on the main highway, so steps should be taken to make it a success.
He said all affairs of the management committee should be carried out on merit and if there is a shortage of staff the cooperation of the Local Government Department can be sought.
He said the recruitment process in the Cattle Market Management Committee should be completed as soon as possible and all the concerned departments should cooperate in this regard.
He said the committee had significantly improved its performance within a month.
The staff should go out in the field and achieve all the targets on time.
