ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration has initiated a stringent campaign targeting traders who violate official prices of essential commodities within the federal capital.
Under the direction of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Irfan Nawaz Memon, Magistrate Sadar Zone, Mir Yamin led a price inspection operation in the area covered by Tarnol Police Station, says an ICT administration spokesperson.
During the operation, the magistrate inspected fruit and vegetable shops, dairy stores, and grocery outlets from No. 26 Chungi to Tarnol railway crossing to ensure compliance with official pricing regulations for essential goods.
During the inspection, the magistrate got five shopkeepers arrested and imposed heavy fines on violators. These traders were found guilty of not displaying official prices and engaging in unauthorized wholesale activities. They were subsequently handed over to the police for further legal proceedings.
The district administration has affirmed its commitment to continue rigorous checks and enforcement against any vendor found violating the official price list.
Operations targeting price hikes, professional beggars, illegal petrol filling agencies, and Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) stations are ongoing on a daily basis in the federal capital.
