FAISALABAD: Divisional Commissioner Ms Silwat Saeed has ordered the deputy commissioners (DCs) of all four districts in the division to strictly enforce price control mechanisms within their respective jurisdictions.
Chairing a meeting, she assessed the availability of daily-use items and instructed the DC’s and assistant commissioners (ACs) to ensure an adequate supply of these commodities in the markets to thwart any bid to artificially create shortages and hike prices.
Ms Saeed ordered monitoring of flour and wheat prices, saying that any overcharging or profiteering in essentials like roti and other food items would not be tolerated under any circumstances.
She reaffirmed the government’s commitment to providing roti and other daily necessities at regulated prices, warning profiteers and hoarders of stringent actions.
The commissioner also directed the price control magistrates to execute their duties with utmost honesty and diligence, cautioning that negligent officers would face severe consequences.
She ordered market committees to maintain price stability through rigorous oversight of fruit and vegetable auctions, thereby protecting consumers from exploitation through inflated prices.
The meeting was attended by Fisalabad DC Abdullah Nayyar Sheikh, as well as heads of Food, Livestock, Industries, Market Committee, and other relevant departments. DCs of Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, and Chiniot participated via video link. -PR
