ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Food Authority (IFA) destroyed 13,000 liters of tainted milk intended for public consumption during a major crackdown against sellers of contaminated milk in the federal capital.
IFA Deputy Director of Operations (DDO) Dr Tahira Saddique told APP that the IFA teams inspected various vehicles and shops to ensure compliance with health standards. During the operation, officials tested 25,000 liters of milk, of which 13,000 liters were found to be contaminated and substandard, leading to their destruction.
Authorities also imposed heavy fines on shops selling substandard milk, with four shops being sealed for non-compliance.
Dr Tahira stressed the importance of public health, stating that negligence in this area would not be tolerated. She reiterated the IFA’s commitment to fostering a healthy environment for the citizens of Islamabad and urged the community to support efforts against food adulteration to ensure the safety and well-being of all residents.
