PESHAWAR: The Khyber government is working on 49 different projects aimed at developing the agriculture sector on a fast-track and sustainable basis, says Chief Minister Sardar Ali Amin Gandapur.
He made this announcement during a meeting with Rehana Raza, Regional Director of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), in Islamabad, according to a press release, also attended by Chief Secretary Nadeem Aslam Chaudhry, Secretary of Agriculture Javed Marwat, and senior officials of the Planning and Development department were also present.
The CM said that Rs4 billion has been allocated in the new fiscal budget for providing soft loans to those working in the agriculture sector. Additionally, projects such as the Chashma Right Bank Canal (CRBC), Gomal Zam Dam, and Tank Zam Dam are underway, which upon completion, will address food security issues in the province, he added.
He said several suitable sites have also been identified for the construction of check dams to preserve natural water resources and create employment opportunities.
Mr Gandapur directed the concerned authorities to complete the baseline survey for the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Rural Economic Transformation Project and ensure that all necessary arrangements, including staff deployment, are in place to commence physical work without delay.
