Lahore: The Punjab Federal Authority, or PFA, terminated a milk distribution facility that poisoned milk with a chemical used to preserve corpses. Seven suspects have already been named in a complaint, and only one has been taken into custody.

Our culture has long placed a lot of emphasis on milk. It is an important factor of our nutrition due to its numerous advantages. The contamination process, in which additives being added to milk to modify its density and prolong its shelf life, raises a pressing problem about the purity of milk.

The government has always been extremely concerned regarding milk adulteration. Despite all of the attempts to prohibit such practices and to save millions of lives, the dreadful cycle never ceases.

The PFA crew accessed a milk distribution facility on Qasoor Road in Lahore. The unexpected revelation that the milk delivered had indeed been processed with a chemical that is used to preserve dead bodies. This shocked the authorities and prompted further investigation, since it  is one of Punjab’s leading milk supply companies.

PFA filed a lawsuit against the seven culprits and the individual who had been arrested. In this context, the authority’s Director General (DG), Mudassir Riaz Malik, emphasized that no one would be allowed to meddle with people’s health. He stated that the white solution might trigger cancer.

The chemical prevented the milk from scorching. During the raid, 32 liters of oil and chemicals as well as more than 12,000 liters of fresh milk were confiscated. Each day, the unit distributed 20,000 liters of milk throughout the city and beyond.

Formalin is a common white liquid used in the manufacturing and preservation of food products. Formaldehyde, which is toxic to people, is a derivative of formalin. It is a disinfectant that’s also commonly used in mortuaries to preserve dead bodies as well as in research laboratories to ensure animal specimens are preserved.
