ISLAMABAD: The All Pakistan-China Friendship Association (APCFA), in collaboration with the Chinese Embassy in Pakistan, hosted the Pakistan-China Friendship Festival to commemorate the 74th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and the 10th anniversary of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and “Belt and Road” (BRI) initiative.
The festival featured a variety of activities aimed at promoting cultural exchange and enhancing the deep-rooted friendship between the two nations. Attendees enjoyed Chinese Calligraphy classes, culinary training sessions, a Chinese calligraphy workshop, a musical band performance, and stalls showcasing traditional items from both countries.
The event’s chief guest, Zhang Heqing, Cultural Counselor and Director of the China Cultural Center in Pakistan, expressed his gratitude to the APCFA for their dedicated efforts in organizing this significant celebration. He emphasized the enduring friendship between China and Pakistan, highlighting the historical and cultural ties that bind the two nations.
Furthermore, Zhang Heqing underscored the importance of youth engagement in fostering stronger ties between China and Pakistan. He encouraged young people from both countries to work diligently and act as ambassadors of the China-Pakistan friendship.
Reflecting on China’s remarkable progress over the past 74 years under the leadership of the Communist Party of China (CPC), Zhang Heqing noted the elimination of absolute poverty, the establishment of world-class education, social security, and healthcare systems, and sustained economic growth. He also highlighted China’s policy of reform and opening up, which has not only transformed the nation but also created opportunities for the global community.
Among the distinguished guests attending the event were Muhammad Ikhlaq Usmani, President of APCFA, Romana Iftikhar, Patron of APCFA, and Syed Ali Nawaz Gilani, APCFA Peshawar. The festival saw enthusiastic participation from students representing various schools, colleges, and universities, further solidifying the bonds of friendship between Pakistan and China.
