LAHORE: Credit cards under the “Kissan Card” scheme will be available by August 10, 2024, at the respective branches of the applicants, which farmers could use for purchasing fertilizers, seeds, and pesticides from October 15, 2024.
Punjab Agriculture Secretary Iftikhar Ali Sahoo made this announcement while chairing a review meeting of the Kissan Card scheme at the Agriculture House.
He stated that 275,000 applicants have been registered under this scheme, and their cards will be available at their respective Bank of Punjab branches by August 10, 2024.
He added that the registration process is being accelerated and applicants are being facilitated on a “first come, first serve” basis. The production of these cards is in its final stages, with the verification of 100,000 applicants already completed.
The meeting was attended by Special Secretary Agriculture Punjab Shahensha Faisal Azeem, Director General Agriculture Extension Chaudhry Abdul Hameed, Director General Agricultural Information Punjab Naveed Asmat Kahloon, and other senior officials.
