Government revises starter, grower, and finisher feed rates following market review to support farmers.

LAHORE: The Government of Punjab has officially reduced poultry feed prices across the province by approximately Rs. 200 per 50 kg bag, a move aimed at supporting poultry farmers and stabilizing the market. The notification was issued by the Directorate General (Research), Livestock & Dairy Development Department, under notification No. 1-11/Prices/65.V.A(II), utilizing powers granted by the Punjab Price Control of Essential Commodities Ordinance 2023.

Market review and price adjustment
A technical committee meeting held on 5 December 2025 analyzed the cost structure of poultry feed and recent market trends of key ingredients. The review indicated a decline in prices of major raw materials. Following consultations with the Broiler Farmers Association and poultry feed producers, a consensus was reached to lower the price of a 50 kg feed bag by roughly Rs. 200.

Revised poultry feed rates
The Director General (Research) and Provincial Controller General Prices, Dr. Sajjad Hussain, notified the new ex-mill and maximum retail prices effective immediately:

  • Starter Feed: Ex-Mill Rs. 6,739 | Retail Rs. 6,814
  • Grower Feed: Ex-Mill Rs. 6,717 | Retail Rs. 6,792
  • Finisher Feed: Ex-Mill Rs. 6,641 | Retail Rs. 6,716

Implementation and compliance measures
The notification is valid for 15 days and will continue until the next committee meeting. Deputy Commissioners and Price Magistrates have been instructed to ensure strict enforcement and prevent overcharging by retailers.

All feed dealers and shopkeepers are required to display the official rate list prominently at their outlets. Poultry feed manufacturers must provide complete information on feed ingredients in compliance with Section 11 of the Punjab Consumer Protection Act 2005.

Impact on farmers and poultry industry
The price reduction is expected to ease the financial burden on poultry farmers, improve affordability, and stabilize the poultry sector during a period of fluctuating feed costs. Industry stakeholders have welcomed the decision as a timely intervention to maintain sustainable production and market stability.
