KARACHI: A resident of Ghaghar Phatak in Karachi lost his life to rabies at Indus Hospital because of not having been vaccinated following a dog bite a month ago.
The 62-year-old citizen, who had been bitten by a dog a month ago, succumbed to the deadly disease as he had not received the necessary vaccination.
In-Charge of the Dog-Bite Clinic, Aftab Gohar, says that this marks the sixth fatality from dog bites at Indus Hospital this year. The deceased had not undergone vaccination despite the dog bite incident.
Gohar further stated that Indus Hospital has recorded over 13,000 cases of dog bites this year, underscoring the urgency of addressing this public health concern.
The incident shows the importance of timely and appropriate medical intervention, including vaccination, following a dog bite to prevent the onset of rabies.
