LAHORE: The University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS), Lahore, marked World Animal Day on Friday at its City Campus, by organizing a walk to raise awareness about animal protection, conservation, and the importance of humane treatment.
The event marking the day under the theme “The World is Their Home Too” also called for an end to the exploitation of animals for entertainment, such as animal fights.
The walk was led by UVAS Vice-Chancellor, Meritorious Prof. Dr. Muhammad Younus (DLA.I, T.I), accompanied by Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Science, Prof. Dr. Aneela Zameer Durrani.
Students from various societies and clubs, along with faculty members, who participated in the event, started the walk from the vice-chancellor’s office and circled the City Campus, advocating for animal welfare.
Addressing the participants, Dr Younus reiterated his commitment to animal welfare and vowed to continue efforts to prevent animal cruelty.
Similar activities were organised across other UVAS campuses, promoting a unified stance on ethical treatment and care of animals. -PR
