LAHORE The University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore arranged various activities including a motivational walk, debate and poster competitions with the theme of Battling Terrorism with Knowledge as part of Higher Education Commission (HEC) 15 year celebrations / role and contribution of higher education institutions in national development.
Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad led the walk while UVAS Senior Tutor Prof Dr Kamran Ashraf, Prof Dr Asim Aslam and a large number of students and faculty members participated. The walk started from in front of the Vice-Chancellor Office and took a round of the city campus UVAS Lahore. The aim of the walk was to highlight the supportive role and contribution of Higher Education Commission (HEC) of higher education institutions in national development.
In debate English category contest, Huzaifa Zulfiqar from Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) won 1st position and Arooba Waqar from Doctor of Nutrition & Dietetics (DND) got 2nd position while Laiba Tahami also from Doctor of Nutrition & Dietetics (DND) got 3rd position.
In debate Urdu category contest, Aaun Abbas (Microbiology) won 1st position, Amna Batool (Biochemistry) 2nd position while Laiba Rasheed (Microbiology) got 3rd position.
In poster contest, Shaista Mehmood from Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (IPS) won 1st position and Zakia Habib from Biological Sciences got 2nd position while Myra Noor from Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (IPS) stood 3rd position.
Senior Tutor Prof Dr Kamran Ashraf chaired certificates & shields distribution ceremony of debate contest winners while Prof Dr Asim Aslam chaired the ceremony of poster contest winners and distributed certificates and shields among the winner of all contests. A number of students were present on the occasion.
Meanwhile The office of Career Services of UVAS in collaboration with Amal Academy organised a seminar on career counseling. Guest speaker Ms Zara delivered a lecture to students on developing job skills including communication, interviewing and CV writing, and on moulding the mindset of students entering the job market.
