LAHORE: The Quality Operation Laboratory (QOL) of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Lahore organised a two-day “National Workshop on Chromatography Techniques”.
Director General Punjab Forensic Science Agency Dr Mohammad Ashraf Tahir and UVAS Vice-Chancellor Meritorious Prof Dr Talat Naseer Pasha co-chaired inaugural session of the workshop while Dean Faculty of Veterinary Science Prof Dr Masood Rabbani, Prof Dr Muhammad Ashraf (retd), Director QOL Dr Aamir Ghafoor Bajwa and a number of participants from public & private organisations all over Pakistan attended.
Speaking at the occasion, the Vice Chancellor explained the importance and applications of chromatography in different fields. He also explained the uses of chromatographic techniques in livestock sector. Dr Ashraf Tahir described the applications of chromatography in biotechnology, biochemical processes, bioinformatics and forensic science.
The objectives of the workshop were to highlight importance of chromatography in different fields of science, update the latest applications of advanced chromatographic techniques and provide hands-on-training to participants.
Chromatography is an exceptionally versatile and sophisticated technique used for chemical testing in pharmaceutical, food, health, and the environment industry. In the growing demand for food, fraud and adulteration testing techniques knowledge is attaining core importance. It is also used for qualitative and quantitative analyses of different compounds and has gained immense importance in the past few years in almost every field of science.
