Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Gen Syed Asim Munir engaged in crucial discussions with high-ranking US government and military officials, addressing various areas of mutual interest, global and regional security concerns, and ongoing conflicts during his official visit to the United States.
Gen Munir met with notable figures including Secretary of State Antony N Blinken, Secretary of Defense Gen Lloyd J Austin (retired), Deputy Secretary of State Victoria Nuland, Deputy National Security Adviser Jonathan Finer, and Chairman of Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen Charles Q Brown.
Both sides expressed their commitment to maintaining a constructive dialogue to explore potential avenues for bilateral collaboration.
During a reception hosted by the Embassy of Pakistan, Gen Munir interacted with the Pakistani overseas community, lauding their positive role in contributing to the country’s progress and development. He encouraged the diaspora to invest through the SIFC, highlighting its successes in various domains.
COAS clarified that the United States constitutes the largest export market for Pakistan, accounting for 21.5 percent of the country’s total exports. He dispelled any misconceptions regarding special screening, visa denials, and detentions, reassuring the Pakistani community in the US.
Praising the Pakistani Diaspora as ambassadors of Pakistan worldwide, Gen Munir acknowledged their significant contributions in various fields.
Members of the community expressed pride in the Pakistan Army’s role in the nation’s well-being.
The COAS extended best wishes to the Pakistani community, expressing gratitude to Tanweer Ahmed for his generous $9 million donation to NUST for IT development in Pakistan. He commended Ahmed as a hero, highlighting Pakistan’s pride in individuals like him. -PR
