Research presented at the World’s Poultry Congress 2026 highlights advances in poultry nutrition, flock health and precision feeding that could help improve productivity, sustainability and export competitiveness for producers worldwide, including Pakistan.

TORONTO: As Pakistan’s poultry industry seeks to boost productivity and expand exports, new scientific research unveiled at the World’s Poultry Congress (WPC) 2026 is drawing attention to innovations that could shape the future of poultry production across the globe.

At the five-day congress in Toronto, Canada, Trouw Nutrition, the livestock nutrition business of Nutreco, presented a series of research findings focused on precision nutrition, predictive modelling, gut health and sustainable poultry production. The company said its latest studies are designed to help poultry producers improve flock performance, enhance animal welfare and strengthen profitability while addressing increasingly complex production challenges.

The research covered several priority areas, including optimising calcium and phosphorus levels in poultry diets to improve skeletal development, nutrient utilisation and overall bird performance. Scientists also presented predictive growth models that can help producers make better technical and economic decisions by forecasting how different feeding strategies influence production outcomes.

Another key focus was gut health and resilience. Researchers shared findings on innovative combinations of plant-derived PhytoComplex ingredients and targeted-release butyrates aimed at improving broiler performance, alongside studies examining low-protein feeding strategies and nutrition for antibiotic-free poultry production.

The World’s Poultry Congress, organised every four years by the World’s Poultry Science Association, brings together scientists, veterinarians, nutritionists and industry leaders to exchange research and explore solutions for the future of poultry production. The 2026 edition is being held in Toronto from 13 to 17 July and covers topics ranging from genetics and disease prevention to nutrition, sustainability and food security.

For Pakistan’s poultry sector, which is increasingly focused on modernising production systems and expanding exports, experts say such international research offers valuable insights into improving feed efficiency, reducing production costs, strengthening flock health and adopting more sustainable farming practices. As global demand for safe, high-quality poultry products continues to grow, science-driven innovation is expected to play an increasingly important role in enhancing the competitiveness of poultry producers worldwide.
